Picnic ’88 is a continuation of the inner child theme and parallel universes where Anfal Alkandari revisits personal memories and brings visual elements of the past to the current moment. The exhibition presents a reimagined scene of a picnic that the artist took when she was 6 years old back in 1988. The installation will draw on elements evident in her work which reflect on themes of nostalgia and personal experiences with the use of vibrant colors and gestural drawings.

Anfal Alkandari is a Kuwaiti/Qatari visual artist based in Qatar. She has an MA in Visual from the University of the Arts London (UAL). She works primarily in drawing and painting with an interest in installations and digital art. She is looking into the inner child, dark and light shadow within the human self and parallel universe's themes. Through each project, she tends to create inclusive and interactive experiences to spark audience curiosity and invite them to self-reflect. Anfal showcased her work at the Fire Station, almarkhiya gallery and Ajyal Film Festival. She was a resident at Cité internationale des arts in Paris (2022).
